GPF in module PXSRV.DLL in Win95 and networked Pdox 5.0

GPF in module PXSRV.DLL in Win95 and networked Pdox 5.0

I'm trying to install Paradox for Windows 5.0 over a network,
in other words a workstation install from the server onto my PC.

I am using Gateway 2000 P5-133 (pentium 133mhz) with Windows 95 as
my PC.

I'm attached to a Novell 3.12 server.

Paradox seems to install fine and work fine, but when I exit I get
this message:

PDOXWIN caused a general protection fault in module PXSRV.DLL at
0039:00000469.

I have to close down Paradox and it won't save the changed desktop
settings in Paradox.

I have Paradox installed stand alone (not networked) on another
similar computer and it works fine.

Does anyone know what is causing the problem and how to fix it?

It almost sounds as thought you may not have your network control file
set to the correct directory. To check, go into your IDAPI
configuration, and select PARADOX, then check the line called "NET DIR".
This directory is where all file and recording locking is done. If you
don't know where your network control file is, you will need to find
out.

I think your problem is that there are locking files Paradox uses in the
database you are working in that your program can't properly close. I
know Paradox can GPF on lock files left remaining after a abnormal
exiting from Paradox. When re-enter the database, it appears the data
tables are corrupt or another GPF can occur. This problem would only
occur when data or drive is shared on a network and would not apply to a
single user install.
