 Corel's Pdox Newsgroups

Has anybody seen a new post on Corel's Newsgroups?  They announced that the
patch was running way late and thenno posts are showing up, including ones I've
sent.  If anybody has seen anything new, let me know. Thanks!

I have the same problem for about two weeks - can't connect to Corel newsgroups,
get the message that the server is shut down.

My news reader says it is connecting fine and claims to be downloading fine.  I
wiped out the group locally, and it re-downloaded headers up through March 17,
but did not  have headers for the messages I had sent in...

I think corel just yelled "abandon ship", and jumped into a liferaft.  Their
titanic won't win best picture.

My ISP has to pay for access to the groups and has decided not to allow access to any but
the standards groups.

Your ISP might be the same.

Free Agent works also. Only problem is that you can only set it up for one
server at a time.

Correct.. but that "one server at a time" rule is a real bear!!

Yes, it is. I was just experimenting in trying to find out out why some work
and others don't. Any ideas?

I have been using Anawave Gravity as my news client. Handles multiple servers well, but
obviously you can only log onto one at a time.

Absoutely no idea at all.. because the folks that I asked also had no
idea why some readers work and some don't for the Corel stuff.. and
everything else I run thru the readers seems to work in all the
readers..

You can set up subdirectories in your Agent directory with each
sudirectory containing the data files for a different server. Next you
set up separate icons to run Agent for each server. The properties for
the icons are like:

Command line 1: c:\agent\program\agent.exe
Start in 1:  c:\agent\server1

Command line 2 c:\agent\program\agent.exe
Start in 2: c:\agent\server2

I have actually run 2 Agent's simutaneously. Each retrieving headers
and articles from separate servers. I keep a subdirectory with empty
data files so I can make a copy and point it to a new serve anytime I
want.
