"File Not Found" Querry error in Pdx 7

Hi,

I just upgraded my computer, and after reloading PDox7 I'm having a very
strange problem running querries.  I can set up the querry and enter my
condions OK, but when I run the querry I get a "File Not Found" error.

For example, I want to run a querry on my "Sales.DB" table.  I bring up
a new querry, and select "Sales.DB" from the file selection dialog.  The
normal querry window pops up, and all the correct fields are displayed,
along with the "Sales.DB" table name.  I can enter whatever search
conditions I like.  But, once I hit the run button, I get an error
message that the file "Sales.DB" was not found.

The new computer is running the latest version of Win98, and has a LAN.
However, I tried disconnecting the LAN and it had no effect.  The
querries ran fine on my old computer.  I checked all of the querry
options, and they are the same on both computers (I left them as the
defaults).

If anybody has any ideas what might be causing this I'd be really
grateful.

TIA,
Scott

If your upgraded system is now using FAT32 then you need to be sure you are
using version 3.5 or greater for the BDE.

Hi Carolyn,

Thanks for your reply.  Unfortunately, I don't think this is it.  The BDE is
version 4.0.

I'm wondering if this doesn't have something to do with the LAN - likemaybe
it's renaming the file for some reason.  But up until the point I run the
querry everything seems alright.  When I check with Explorer, the file is right
where it's supposed to be.

Thanks again,

-Scott

Are any of the tables in directories with spaces in the directory names?
I think I've seen this cause similar problems. Check location of Private
directory as well.

Hi Fintan,

Thanks for your advice.  I'm not sure if the directory has spaces or not -
I'll have to go check it out.

Thanks!

Hi,

It turns out that Caroline was right on the money with this.  Somehow I had
2 versions of the BDE installed.  As close as I can figure, one was being
used by Paradox, and the other was for my old copy of C++ Builder (which was
the one I checked for the version number).  What broke this open was I
upgraded to BCB-5 on Monday, and it got rid of the duplicate copies.  Now
Paradox works fine.

Thanks again!
