 PdoxWin 5.0 under WinOS/2 slows down

I have a problem running PdoxWin 5.0 under WinOS2 (OS/2 2.1).
After about 1/2 hour, it suddenly takes _extremely_ long to
do the simplest action. For example, opening a query (not running
or executing the query, simply OPENING it) can take 3-4 minutes.
Similar length of time to open a table.

For the first 20 minutes to 1/2 hour, everything is fine, then
suddenly it's snail's pace time.  It's not a gradual slow down,
either; one minute normal, the next - go get a coffee while Paradox
or WinOS2 stares at its navel.  If I exit Paradox, close the
WinOS2 session, then start a new session, everything's back to
normal.

Other info:
- Entire development environment is on a local PC, and there
  are no other Pdox sessions open, so contention isn't a problem
- Since everything returns to normal when I shut down and restart,
  I think I'm safe in assuming no table corruption.
- There is no disk activity during this time.
- ALL actions are suspended - can't switch to another app, or anything,
  until Paradox wakes up again (no, I am not using the sleep() function
  anywhere).
- Machine is IBM PS/2 77 with 32 Meg RAM; the WinOS2 session is allocated
  8M extended & 8M expanded memory.

This is a real pain in the butt, because every 1/2 hour I have to exit
Paradox and WinOS2, and start up again.  Any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Jim

Enhanced or Standard windows mode?  Just an idea.

Can you boot to DOS/Windows and duplicate this?  if not, sounds like it's
an Win-OS/2 under OS/2 problem.

I have been running Paradox W5 successfully under OS/2 2.11 for about
a year now. If you havent done so already, migrate Paradox to the desktop
and make then following changes to the session settings. One note, on the
IBM 76 models, paradox would not load with DOS_UMB set to ON. Also check
your swapper file it may be getting extreamly large. OS/2 2.10 & below
had a problem of releasing swapper file, it just kept growing & growing.

 In addition to the default settings, change the following:

 WIN_RUN_MODE               = 3.1 Enhanced Compatibility
 DOS_FILES                  = 60
 DOS_HIGH                   = ON     ******************************
 DOS_UMB                    = ON     ** IF paradox does not load **
 DPMI_DOS_API               = ENABLED** set DOS_UMB to OFF       **
 HW_ROM_TO_RAM              = ON     ******************************
 HW_TIMER                   = ON
 IDLE_SENSITIVITY           = 100
 INT_DURING_IO              = ON
 XMS_MEMORY_LIMIT           = 64

I don't have Windows installed on this PC, so I can't try that option.
I _strongly_ suspect it's a problem with Win-OS/2, though, not with Windows.
