HELP! Passing a variable between forms (V5.0)

I'd be grateful for a solution to what I am sure is a simple problem....

table 1             table 2         table 3
--------            --------        --------

    1---------to-----many
                       1-------to---many

Using this sort of relationship shown above, i have two forms.
Once I have succesfully captured which field on table 2 the user wishes to zoom
in on...

HOW DO I PASS THAT VALUE FROM ONE FORM TO ANOTHER FORM

... so as to be able to use
a MoveToRec type of parameter to zoom in on more detail, which will be found in
table 3?

No sweat to capture the record number that the user has focused on in Form A,
but to then use that value to open Form B on a specific Master record has me
stumped. The solution I'm sure is easy.

Please someone put me out of my misery!

how about Wri{*filter*}vironmentString(anIdentifier, your variable value) and
then in the other form
              newFormsDataVar=ReadEnvironmentString(anIdentifier)

Ive always felt this was a kludge, but it works just fine.

You may also want to take a look at TI1681 - Using a library to pass a
variable between Forms or TI1804 - Passing Multiple variables between
forms. I have been successful at using both methods.

HELP! Passing a variable between forms (V5.0)

I use the following syntax in the PARENTFORM (in a pushButton method) :
var
        f       Form
        uio     UIObject
endvar
f.open("CHILDFORM") ; open the child form
UIO.attach(f.page1) ; attach to the page (or the table frame) of the child
form
UIO.setfilter(PARENTKEY) ; where PARENTKEY is the value you want to pass to
the child form
applFm.wait() ; put Child Form into wait state
