FM Dev 5.5 vs MacOS X 10.2.1 problem
I have an app that works correctly under MacOS X 10.1.5 but incorrectly
under Mac OS X 10.2.1.

Here's how it's supposed to work:

When launching if you hold down the Option key the standard FM password
dialog box is displayed.

If you just launch no password is required.

Under MacOS X 10.2.1 the password box is displayed but the app continues
to launch as though the user had logged in with no password provided.

Has anyone else seen this sympton?

respect...

Peter

I think you are seeing a known Filemaker bug (in OSX):
Double clicking a file to open it does start Filemaker, but the file
itself does not open.
You need to open the file manually from Filemaker and hold the option
key to trigger the password screen.

Nope that's not it. FM Dev 5.5v2 has been working flawlessly under MacOS
X 10.1.5. It's only under 10.2.1 that I see the problem and not every
time.

Seems to occur when I boot into 10.5.1 and then back into 10.2.1.

Also not able to re-p[roduce it unfailingly.

I get the same thing on my G4 iMac under Jag.  If FM is already
running, then I'm able to double click on a DB file and get the
expected behavior when the option key is held down.  If FM has to
launch first, then the first read file does not ask for a password.

Hello Peter,

looks like a bug or _feature_ with MacOS X (Jaguar).

If I open a db file (local ro remote) with double-click, the password is
entered in vain. Fact I do get only limited access to my files even if
typed in the admin password.

_But_ if I first open the FileMaker application, choose "open" from the
File menu with the option key pressed, in this case the password is
correctly recognized.

I can repeat this as often as I like :-(
