How to print multiple copies from different layouts?

Hi all,

I'm have made a database for the company that I work for to print
labels that we can put on videotapes. Whe use 5 different stickers and
I've made 5 layouts to fit on each of the stickers. And 1 layout to
fill in all the information needed. What I would like is to make
something where I can fill in how many copies I want of each layout and
then print that without having to do that in the print dialog. I think
I will make 5 fields where I can put in the number of copies I want for
each layout. But how can I give a button the comand to print this.
Sorry if my english isn't that good but it's not my own language.

Thanks in advance

Rob

In order to avoid wastage you will really need to create duplicate records
on the fly and delete them when you finish printing.

If I was doing this I'd create a separate related file just for printing;
I'd script a loop which looped through the current found set, created
duplicates in the related file according to your required number. Printing
would take place in the related file and all records would be deleted once
printing was complete.

One method is to use a global counter field and a script:

Set Field (gCounter, Layout1CopyCount)
Go to Layout (Label1)
Loop
  Print (no dialog)
Set Field (gCounter, gCounter - 1)
Exit Loop If (gCounter < 1)
 End Loop

Repeat for each layout, changing the first two lines above:
Layout2CopyCount / Go to Layout (Label2)
Layout3CopyCount / Go to Layout (Label3)
and so on.

I think I like Chris's idea better than my first idea -- it will
probably run faster than sending multiple print jobs to the printer.

But you would still use the same principle as the script I posted (using
a global field as a "counter").

Also, if you're careful... you could duplicate the records in the same
file. Just flag them as DUPLICATE or something, then find and delete
them when you're done.
