Text Attributes in calculation field and export to MS Word
Hello

Two issues:

I need to keep the text formatting - Bold, of certain text fields into
a single calculation field. (the text looses its "bold" attribute when
concatenated)

And I need to export that calculation field with the text attributes -
(Bold text) to Microsoft Word for creating a merge document.

Is there a way to do this ?

Thanks

Text Attributes in calculation field and export to MS Word

Short of copying and pasting, I am unaware of any way to preserve text
styling in either calc fields or exported records (unless Word has some way
to import from FileMaker).  However, it is possible to create perfectly
formatted and styled merge documents WITHIN FileMaker that can be printed,
archived, linked to individual recipients and a host of other things. Is
there a particular reason why you must create the merge document in Word?

There's no way to keep any formatting when performing calculations on
data, eith in a calc field or through a scripted calc.

There are ways of using RTF (Rich Text Formatting) in calcs to export
formatting to Word.  But it won't work for fields where some data is one
format and some is another (i.e. one of the five words is bolded).  It's
all or nothing, baby.

You could perhaps script a 'copy' and then paste it in Word (maybe
through a DDE macro/script call).  This would keep formatting.

But the real question here is 'why?'  Why do you need to move formatted
data into Word?

Text Attributes in calculation field and export to MS Word
Dear Zulquarnain, Bridget, Howard,

In FMP 5+ is it perfectly possible to export Boldface etc. A while ago
Helmut Kalb presented (t)his problem here, and I found a solution. Please
look at www.tekstotaal.com/c.fmp.font.grabbing.html - this is Windows only!
