Repost re using Dial Phone in Scripts

Hi all

I gather my earlier post hasnt reached many servers so here is my
problem....

I am using FMPro V 4 on Windows NT3.51 - this database will be
used on my clients machine which is Win95.

I wish to have a script that dials the current records phone number
(voice call) then returns the user to a layout so that they can log
details of the call while still "on-line" and once the call is
completed hang up the phone and and it will automatically enter other
details such as time hung up in a related database.

Now there are 2 problems I am having is:

1) the Dial Phone script command is set to dial the number in the
phone field, using dialling prferences as follows below and I get a
dialog box called Hang Up Modem, containing the message "Dialing
phone,{*filter*} up in 60 seconds" and the button "Hang up Now". Now
the modem connects fine to the voice call but the{*filter*} up counts
down in 5 seconds amounts and hangs up after 1 minute.

ATQ0V1E1S0=0
DT
+++ATH

(the default settings)

I want to get back to FMPro but find that the layout is locked
and not enterable while this dialog box exists.

2) Further I want to have another button that hangs up the modem once
the call for that record is finished - but have yet to find how to do
this in a script.

So, how do I change the setting so that they dont hang up while
still talking? How do I use filemaker to hang up the modem when
the user is finished????

Surely there are others using FM for telemarketing purposes and know
the answer to this??

Hope so, please email and post as not all posts reach my ISP's news
server. TIA.

I'm not sure that I've correctly understoodwhat you want, but here
goes.....

using FMP4.0 on Mac.  Similar application to what you're doing, only I
don't have any autoentry of anything.

Dial phone script starts off the modem.
Dialogue box appears.
When the countdown get to 55 seconds I pick up the 'phone handset and
click 'hangup'.
The modem hangs up - it's job is finished as the dialling is finished,
but as the handset is off
the 'phone hangs on to the line for as long as is required.

That's it.  Trivially simple, and it works fine.
The only issue is that you wanted auto entry of data into the field.
Doing it the way I suggested above, there is no way that FMP will know
when you replace the handset.
So either:
- the operator clicks a button to autoinsert date and time into current
record
or
- your script auto enters the date and time into the record
BEFORE dialling.

I hope this helps a bit.
