 relationship to NOW contact
Hi

I'm a newbie, and am trying to create a new relationship from an invoicing
FMP database to a NOW Contact mailing list.  I can't get FMP to "see" the
NOW Contact mailing list to create the relationship, even though FMP can
"see" the NOW Contact folder including templates, tools, etc.   I have tried
moving the NOW Contact mailing list around from desktop to application
folder to it's own folder, but FMP still won't recognize it.  What am I
doing wrong, and apologies for such a basic question.

A direct relationship won't work. You will have to create a new set of
fields (or a new file containing those fields) in Filemaker. Then export
just the data you want from NOW into a temporary Tab Delimited Text file,
then in Filemaker import this temporary file into the new set of fields,
making sure you put the data in the right place (TIP: In NOW, make sure the
first record is filled in with the field name only in each case. Then, when
you import the data into filemaker, you can adjust the import data more
easily using the field contents that appear from the first record to ensure
that the data ends up in the right place). If you need to 'synch' the two on
a regular basis (rather than just a one off) it would be advantageous to
script the process using Applescript/Filemaker scripts. I have been working
up to doing this myself (yet another project on my back burner) so if you
get anywhere soon, please let me know! I do know that the import

Hope this helps
