 FMPro5 unlimit db publishing w/cdml

Greetings,

I'm trying to publish my db's on the web using FMPro 5 unlimited
(macOSX/BlueBox/macOS8.6) using CDML and I'm having a hard time...

As I understood it you need to have FMPro5 running with all the db's
opened...

Do I need to turn on the web companion extension ?

Is FMPro5 gonna serve my html/cdml pages ?

What if I want those html/cdml pages to be served by WebStarr ?

How do I write the CDML tags so that they're understood and sent to
FMPro5 ?

Why wont the TCP protocol starts normally in FMPro5  (with Webstarr,
eims, filemaker3 server(AppleTalk) running) even after changing the port
to 591 ?

Basically what I need is not answers to all those question but a text
(techNote) or exemple that makes the How To really clear...

Thanks for your time

Filemaker billed their 'Filemaker Unlimited' product as able to run on the
Mac OS X server.  This is not exactly the case.  To serve the with OS X you
will need two computers:

-Box 1: OS X server with Apache AND the Filemaker Unlimited servlet.
-Box 2: would be networked to communicate with the OS X box and would be
running mac OS 9 (or whatever), Filemaker, and conatin the databases you
would like to serve.

Basically the OS X box serves the HTML with Apache and when it comes across
a CDML tag the Filemaker Servlet queries the filemaker database running on
a discrete box.  The two box setup allows for good speed and an industrial
strength web server and easy database management (Filemaker on a Mac).

The Blue box that ships with OS X is pretty uselss for anything and should
not be running while OS X server is serving anything.

Hope that helps...

Yes, you understood it right.

Use different port numbers, e.g. 591 for Filemaker and 80 for Webstar.

There is a Filemaker CDML library built in to Claris Homepage 3.0

Did you turn on the TCP/IP networking protocol in Filemaker?

All answers to above questions can be found in the manual. Maybe you should
read it (again).
