Setup for FM Pro and FM Unlimited
Looking for help on setting up FM unlimited.  Here is the scenario I
am in:  One Server has FM Pro Server with multiple DB's on it.  Second
Server has FM Unlimited loaded on it.  I would like people to hit
webpages stored on the FM Unlimited server, but the data should come
from the FM server DB's.  Is this a possible scenario, and if so, how
the heck do I do it?  Sorry if this is a basic question, but i have
recently 'inherited' this task.  Thanks.

You're almost there, and in correct configuration too! Bless you. ;)

Open the files on the Unlimited server as a guest of the FM Server
machine, just as if Unlimited were another workstation. It is,
essentially, a workstation for all users coming in through web access.
LAN users  open through the Open > Hosts route as usual. Make sure no OS
filesharing is on for the FM Server machine, or for the web server
either, for that matter.

The IP of the Unlimited Server is the IP for the web access. All HTML
files should live on the Unlimited server in the Web folder.  The
Filemaker files, of course, remain on the FM Server machine.  Make sure
the web companion plugin is set up properly on the Unlimited machine.

During the time that the FM Server is running automated backup
schedules, the web access will be denied while the files are paused, so
try to set those schedules for periods of low traffic.

Our own Tim (Webko) will be able to give more details if you need them,
but you're sooooo close. :)

Ype - think I'll put this in the minor miracles category - after
watching so many people get this sooooo wrong, having one where
the person was only one step from complete success is amazing :-)

Setup for FM Pro and FM Unlimited
Hi David,

Unfortunately, I haven't been given FM Server 5, so this suggestion is
based purely on previous threads on this NG.

Apparently, the best way to have both a FileMaker Pro Interface and a Web
Interface (via Unlimited) to the same database is to host the files on
the server, and then Open the required files from the terminal with
Unlimited as a Guest.  Unlimited then should be able to share these files
via the Wed Companion.

To gain the specifics, it may be an idea to search through
http://groups.google.com to find the previous threads.

Thanks
Luke
