Portal Criteria for display

 Portal Criteria for display
I have a database "Clients" and another "Projects".

I would like to setup a portal on the Clients layout that shows the related
projects... easy BUT... I only want to show OPEN projects. In each Project
record, there is a status field which is OPEN or CLOSED.

How can I limit the portal to showing only open projects?

Thanks,

Trygve

 Portal Criteria for display

Filter the relationship. If the current relationship uses the Client ID as
the match field, create, in the Client file, a new calculation field
(returning text):

ID & "-" & "Open"

and, in the Projects file, similarly:

ID & "-" & Status

A portal displaying a relationship, in Clients, based on those fields will
show only the Open records for that client.

Ok,

Now my Status field can be "Open", "Closed" or "Hold",

How can I build a portal to be showing Open & Hold jobs?

Thanks,

That's a bit different, because you really need to create two
concatenations. The left side match would now be a multiline key:

ID & "-" & "Open" & "?"
ID & "-" & "Hold"

....and leave the right side as it is.

The "?" (carriage return, or 'paragragph' symbol) delimits the two
concatenated values
(ID & "-" & "Open"  and   ID & "-" & "Hold" ),
saying, in effect, that the relationship is valid for matches of either of
the two concatenations.
