 FMPro3.0v4 printing crashes G3, anyone?

FMPro crashes the machine immediately upon pushing the Print Dialog box
Print button.
These programs print normally: ClarisWorks5.0v1, Photoshop4.0v4.0.1,
BBEdit Lite 3.0., and Netscape Nav. 4.05.
The machine is a stock Power Macintosh G3/233 with no wild extensions or
control panels and it's not on a network.
I've reinstalled FMPro from the CD.
No invisible files named "db" or "Desktop Print Spooler" aka Autostart virus.
There is no mention of this problem anywhere (that I could find) on
filemaker.com and associated links.
And yes, Monday I'll call "Support", I can hardly wait :(
Thanks, Randy

What printer are you printing to.  also what version of the printing drivers
are you using.  are you using OS 7.5 or 8.0.. etc.....

Randy,

Are you using a HP printer. If so you may want ot try disabling the HP
Background extension. It is one of the known problem that have no fix that I
am aware of.

Hope this helps.

I received this response from Epson Web Support inquiry.

This is a known problem between FileMaker 3 and our 5.x driver.

There are two options for your situation:
1.   Upgrade to FileMaker 4.0
2.   Save the information to a file before printing.

The reason you are having this difficulty is due to the fact that FileMaker
creates information ?on the fly?,
or, as it is going along.

1.   FileMaker 4.0 does not do this
2.   Saving before printing allows all of the information to ?arrive?
before it prints

I knew there was a simple answer. Thanks guys and gals, Randy
