Accumulating record data into a global??
Hi,

How can a accumulate data record by record into a global field. In other
words, grab field data from each record and append it to what is already
in the global "collection" field?

Thanks,

P.S. I would appreciate if you could email me as well because my internet
connection is messing up and I don't know when I am going to get back to
check for responses.

Accumulating record data into a global??

Dear Dale,

I have been palying with this concept and I've got it working really
fabulously the best way to deal with this issue is:

First do a find to create a found set of records that you want to work
with then use the following script

SetField global =""
go record "first"
Loop
setfield global= global & <whatever info you want to include> & "?"
go next field <exit after last>
End Loop

If you have any questions let me know, also my script happens in a
hidden data base, if your using the script in a active window try
playing with freeze window command.

Find All
Go to Record [First]
SetField [GlobalField, TextField]
Loop
Go to Record [Exit after last, Next]
SetField [GlobalField, GlobalField & "(carriage return symbol or other
suitable separator)" & TextField]
End Loop

Be aware that a Global Text field has an upper limit of 64000 characters
(roughly10 A4 pages of text).
