 Unable to use field options
I have not been able to use any check boxes in the Filemaker App. such
as when you need to define field options. I am not sure if the problem
is with Win 98 or Filemaker 4.1. I have already tried reinstalling
Filemaker, but with no success. I can use pull down's and radio
buttons, but not check boxes. Any suggestions would be great!

Cory,

I know that Win 98 will not show a large number of items in the value list
if formatted as pop up menu if it does not fit into the window (screen).
Perhaps make the field bigger, make it to be bigger than you think is the
right size.

Hope this will help.

If you have Win 98, make the field on the layout smaller and / or use
less number of values and / or make the values shorter.

On reading this I wondered if a database made up on a Mac with
checkboxes might run into problems of this sort if transferred to a PC.
I don't have a PC to try things out on, but understood that fonts were
the only compatibility problem.
Thanks for any information.

  Maire,

This is not a font problem.  Value list will appear on the Mac in one column
which you can scroll. Under Windows the value lists, layouts etc. are
displayed with many columns. If there are many items in the value list (or if
there are many layouts) some will not be shown. To select a hidden value list
via the Tab key would cause Win 95 to crash. To avoid this tabbing /
crashing, in Win 98 the list is not displayed regardless of the platform
originally the database was created.

I think they both act alike: FMP makes a decision on how many
columns to show based on the width of the field.  It'll fit in as
many columns as it thinks it can.

Yuck.  Bug in Windows or in the Windows version of FMP ?
