 Text/Field Style/Color Manipulation
Is there a way to change Text Style/Field Style based on a calculation?
This includes changing Text Color and Background Color.

Thanks,

Michael

Hi Michael

To change text colour by calculation, you will need to replace a single
calc such as:

If (test, resultIfTrue, resultIfFalse)

with two calcs:

If (test, resultIfTrue, "")

and

If (test,"",  resultIfFalse)

Then format one to have one fill colour and one text colour, and the other
to have another fill colour and another text colour.  Then place them on
top of each other.

Corection:  this will only work for the text colour.

To change the background colour, you will need a third calc which draws
colours from a repeating global container field using a Case statement and
the Get Repetition function.   Place the calc field right at the back and
make sure that the calcs above it are formatted with transparent fill.

Thanks, but it is a bit too cumbersome to say the least.

Its true that FileMaker doesn't handle variable text styling very well,
but the techniques mentioned are fairly standard for achieving those kinds
of effects.
