Is it $150 even for owners of FM 4.0??? The same money as for an owner
of FM 2.0, not to mention Access?
IMHO wheter 4.0 nor 4.1 are more then small updates. And now they react
that way the second time!

Here's the spiel:

ODBC IMPORT

FileMaker Pro 4.1now features a built-in point and click ODBC
SQL Query Builder. Once ODBC drivers have been installed and
configured users can query ODBC-compatible data sources
without requiring SQL programing expertise. Similar to the creation
of FileMaker Pro 4.0 databases directly from many versions of
Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, a database and all necessary fields
will be created automatically when a SQL statement is executed on
  a specific data source.

  EURO CURRENCY SUPPORT

FileMaker Pro 4.1 now provides cross-platform support for the new
European currency symbol. To use the Euro symbol with
FileMaker Pro, you must also be using an operating system and
font that support the new symbol.

  SUPPORT FOR CUSTOMIZED SOLUTIONS

In FileMaker Pro 4.1, you can see and use features enabled in the
FileMaker Pro Developer Edition application, such as Kiosk mode,
custom script menu name, custom help and about menu options
and the removal of master access. For example, if a solution has
been created using the FileMaker Pro Developer Edition to run in
Kiosk mode then FileMaker Pro 4.1 will also run the solution in
  Kiosk mode.

{*filter*}Y CLARIS!  They muck around with frills and never get around to
doing anything about the REALLY annoying limitations we've been
shouting about since version 3.0!

Ahhh...Come on...ODBC is a big complaint for years...This was a decent (not
great) upgrade...

The mythical 5.0 is definitely in development and from what I hear will be
SUBSTANTIALLY different than the FMP we currently know and love...

But then again...FMI may be lying...hahha..

I haven't needed it (yet) so I won't be throwing any parties.  We can
only appreciate what's personally useful to us, I guess.

This was a decent (not great) upgrade...

If you have to search the manual of a major-revision upgrade to find
the differences to the preceding version, it's not great, and barely
decent.  Granted, if web dB publishing is your thing, FMP4 is nifty.
If not, it's an extra 12M of junk on the installation CD.  The only
blessing is that v4's datafiles are compatible with v3.  Hmmm... that
reminds me.  Why isn't v4's DOS filename extension *.FP4 rather than
*.FP3 if it's such a significant upgrade...  ;-)

Sounds ominous!  Be afraid.  Be VERY afraid!
