FM 6 XML export -> import

Hi Michael,

FMPXMLRESULT is the native grammar for FileMaker.  Any data imported using
FP6's ImportXML will need to be in this grammar.

Note that FMPXMLRESULT output is ALWAYS the same for any data output from
any FileMaker file, because of the <metadata> space in it, and the
universally named data space <row><column><data>.  In other words, every
FMPXMLRESULT document has the same DTD.

FMPDSORESULT on the other hand, will produce different grammars for
different database exports, since the column elements will be named for the
fields they represent.
Since any two documents in FMPDSORESULT may be different, FileMaker 6
cannot interpret them for ImportXML.  They will have different DTDs.  Make
sense?
FMPDSORESULT is primary for integration with Microsoft DSO sources, or
perhaps simple output applications where you might find it simpler to
transform the named elements over the more rigorous/flexible FMPXMLRESULT.

FMPXMLRESULT will be the preferred grammar for most development work.  An
extension of the above is that XSLT documents that work against FMPXMLRESULT
generally can work against any FileMaker solution.  XSLT against DSO
however, would generally be unique to a single FileMaker database.

Good luck,

Andrew
