I am attempting to host a filemaker Pro 5 database on a Macintosh running
OS9.1 and access it on a Gateway laptop running Windows 98. Everything seems
to be configured correctly. I can even select the hosted database and enter
the password when I click on "Hosts" in the "Open" dialog box.
The problem is that after I enter the password, I lose the network
connection to the Gateway computer. It continues to try to access the
database for a few seconds, then gives me an error saying "Communication
with the host was interrupted and could not be re-established -20".
I then have to remove the PCMCIA 10/100 ethernet card from the gateway and
put it back in to resume my network connection.
Here are my settings:
Macintosh:
Apple Talk enabled via Ethernet
File sharing dis-abled
TCP/IP via ethernet configured manually IP: 10.0.2.51 SubnetMask:
255.255.255.0
Filemaker connects via TCP/IP (in filemaker preferences)
Windows 98:
TCP/IP 10.0.2.59 SubnetMask: 255.255.255.0
Filemaker connects via TCP/IP (in filemaker preferences)
Any ideas?
