Keeping users in the script

 Keeping users in the script

The weak part of my database is that users can bail out of scripts
without completing them, leaving incomplete records, with no tidy way of
going back to complete them.  For instance...a script which finds a
specific delivery record based on a job no. / deliv date concatenation
(which makes it unique).  that info finds the record, and they then
enter number of pieces shipped, and the ship date (on a line item in
DELIVERIES ) and that information is used to create a packing slip, and
subsequently an invoice.  If they leave the script after the record is
found, or hit "continue" without entering information they create a
packing slip without the ship qty and ship date.  How do I make it
impossible to leave the script.  Can I query the "continue" button or
the cancel button and make it dependant on not empty field x or field y?

any help appreciated.

Hi David,

Since you are already using scripts to control the input process this should
be a snap.

Script Steps that should be used:
1. Alow User Abort [Off]
2. Set Error Capture [On]

this will prevent user from terminating the script prematurely. Also you
should define the key fields as required. It would help if you uncheck the
"Override data entry warning" for non adminstration password. In you input
script you can now check for errors and show an appropriate message to the
user. Now you can create a continue script that checks for error before
continueing and should also show message on which field need entry.

Hope this helps you.
