Combining fields from a related file in one field; as if it were a find-command

Hello everyone,

I'm working with two databases for holding protocol data on a nuclear
medicine dept. The first holds the data our technicians need to lookup
or check before they start a exam on a patient, the other holds data for

the laboratory which prepares all the pharmaceuticals the patients get
before we can even do an exam.

We have 45 scan protocols and about 11 preparation protocols which means

that a pharmaceutical can be used on different types of exams.
Somehow I decided that since these two databases
were related by the pharmaceutical field it should be possible to show
the laboratory which exams could be done with a given pharmaceutical.
That's when I got into trouble.

I want Filemaker to give me a list in the lab database of exams ( from
the exam name field in the scan database ) that all use pharmaceutical X

but I can't get it to work.
I can find the first and the last exam but not say all five of them
neatly in one calculated field or something.
I tried to work with portals but the scan protocols DB has 69 fields and

the lab. preparation DB has 39 fields,
I only got blank portals . . .

Should scripting be involved in this ?

Help would be much appreciated.

Looks like you've messed-up defining your relation.  Have you done
any relational stuff with FMP before ?  If not, ignore your problem
for a while and read the bit in the manual about relations.  Once
you've got a simple one working, then you can go back to your own
database.
