Export from File Maker (Mac) to Access 2000 (PC)
Hi everybody,

I'm a PC guy and have no clue about Mac's. I need to import data entered on
File Maker for Mac into an Access 2000 Database. I tried exporting all the
tables from the Mac to a floppy and it seemed to work. Now comes the silly
question. My PC cannot read the floppy, it thinks it not formatted. How can
I export the File Maker data to be used on a PC?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Marc

Use a PC formatted floppy instead of a Mac formatted floppy.

Most newish Macs can read Windows floppies as standard, but Windows PCs
can't read Mac floppies without additional software.

DON'T copy the FileMaker files themselves. You need to use the Export
command in the File menu to export all the data to something importable
by Access (an ASCII/Test file or an Excel file is probably best).

Obviously you'll need to recreate the database (fields, relational
links, etc.) in Access and then import all the data.

Format your floppy on the PC first. The Mac should be able to read and
write to it. If not, install helper software (afaik it is part of the
Mac OS install).

Hope this helps.
