 valuelist 'also show values from..'

I have a {*filter*} little problem.

In a layout, a value from a valuelist has to be chosen. form:
popup-menu.
The displayed values come from file and are codes. In order tot have an
user choose the right code, I want the linked text to be displayed as
well. So far so good.

But.
The displayed valuelist shows in alphabetical order, not from the code
but from the text.
Example list:

ZZ1   butter
KH9  candy
AY8   donut
KZ3   eggs

Both fields are text-fields

And offcourse, I want a list that reads

AY8  donut
KH9 candy
KZ3  eggs
ZZ1  butter

How to do this nice and easy?

Try to have the 2nd field, the one containing butter, candy, etc. be an
unstored field. Then the value list should sort by the code. Of course,
unstoring the value makes finds/sorts on that field much less speedy...

Why not simply choose to sort by the first field?

You're right, John. You can do this now in FMP v5, can't you? ;) I forgot. I
used v4 for way too long...anyway, in v4, if you want to do this, I think
you need to unstore the 2nd "also display values from:" value.

So where the heck's Vashon Island? And are there a lot of FileMaker users
floating around on it? ;)

as I can see in my filemaker pro 5 there is two radio-buttons at the end
of the dialog-box for the valuelists. It shows "sort after field1 or sort
after field 2".
Can You find this?
