fm 3.0> how to sort value list?
In FM 3.0,
is it possible to automatically sort (alpha) a value list after entering a
new value? TIA

Perhaps you should create a file specially for your value list. It only
needs one record, one field. Make your list in this, with paragraph
marks separating the items. Make your valuelist 'from field', and
navigate to your special file.
There doesn't have to be a relationship or anything, but obviously the
file has to be available.
The valuelist will turn up nicely sorted.
It could, of course, be a field in your same file instead.

The problem with referencing a field as a value list in the same file is that
1. you can't use a global field because it can't be indexed, and
2. referencing a normal field in a multi-record file will show all values
from that field for all records: this is often highly desirable, but when
all you need is a simple value list, you could end up with values all over
the place (which will still work fine and sort alphabetically, but would
create an editing nightmare) or alternatively having to remember which
record contained the values and never deleting that record and always
putting new values in that record...

The second file single record technique (Maire's first suggestion) is cleaner.
