 Long layout limitation

I use FileMaker Pro as a word processor simply because most fields I
have to populate are referenced from many other FMP files.  The problem
I have is there is a 119 inch or about 12-14 pages useable page length
limitation on any one layout.  The document I am using is 32 pages
long.  The solution seams simple -- use more than one layout and in my
case I used 1 layout per page.  Most of the problems associated with
using multiple layouts appearing as a single document can be worked out.
For instance, printing works great using a script, but try to fax all 32
layouts using a script and the fax software will replace the previous
page with the last.  I end up with the last page instead of 32.  So I
have to print first and then feed the fax.

What I have been tasked to do is to share this 32 page document with
others who do not have FileMaker Pro. Even if they did have FMP, the
file is so large it is virtually impossible to send even if it is
zipped, (I am a Windows user).  I tried to copy the pages as images and
paste into MS Word, but the document grows too large again.  I tried to
copy the layout into MS word and merge the data, but you are really
better off starting from scratch, as it requires a lot of editing.  I
tried saving the files as a PDF file using a script, but FMP still asks
for the name of each page to print even though the print script
indicates no dialog.

The closest I have to a solution is ClickBooks at
http://www.***.com/
the printing, and gives one the ability to merge all 32 pages together,
then save as one file. One small problem, there is a bug with the merge
capabilities. Technical support says one month before they can fix the
bug.

I could not find an application or a plug-in that can help.  If
FileMaker could extend the layout length my problems would be solved,
but It seems I am the only one with this problem, so I don't expect them
to fix it.  I could really use some help.

 Long layout limitation

Printing to PDF worked for me.  This is what I did...found 14 records in
database printed to PDF Writer, choose "Records being browsed" in the
print dialog, and viola it print all 14 records to one file.
My pages were a black & white form, 8.5 x 11" size.  The file ended up
being 123K.  I thought the reason it didn't work for is you needed to
goto Preview mode them print, but maybe it's you didn't choose "records
being browsed".

 Long layout limitation
Thanks Phil,

My problem is I have one record, but that record needs to be longer than
12 pages.  Actually 32 pages would be ideal.  So I am trying to get
around the 12 page per layout limitation. For example, a 32 page word
document is basically the same thing I am trying to do. I do not have
any problem printing as many pages as I want.  Any more ideas?

Thanks,
Audie
