Does DB2 for OS/390 support the OS/390 C++ compiler?  I am hoping to develop
a program written in C++ that will run on the mainframe and access data from
the DB2 database on the same mainframe.

DB2 for OS/390 supports embedded SQL programs in C and C++ . I'm not
sure about version 4 or less.

Refer to application programming and SQL guide for more information.

The guide talks a lot about Unix, Windows, etc. clients, but doesn't say
much about running a program in the CICS region written in C++ and compiled
on the mainframe.  I believe we are planning on compiling using the Unix
Open Systems area and running the program on the CICS (MVS?) region.  Will
it be able to connect to our DB2 database?  Also, are we stuck with embedded
SQL only?  Or can we use CLI.  I read somewhere on IBM's site in a document
dated sometime in 1995 that the OS390 C++ compiler cannot compile DB2 apps.
This obviously is a major cause for concern and makes no sense.  Our company
has COBOL programs that use embedded SQL and access the DB2 database while
running under CICS.  Is it really possible that similar support does not
exist for the C++ compiler?
