DB2 Newbie needs help with DB2 5.2 ODBC: can browse schema, but get no data

I have an OS/2-based V5.2 DB2 database.  I've downloaded and installed
IBM's 5.2 ODBC driver (billed for W95, W98 and NT, but I'm using under
W2K), and using it I can connect to the database and browse the
schema, examine the table and column structure, etc.  However, I can't
retrieve any data.  No error is returned, it's just that I get no data
back.  Preview doesn't work in the ODBC config; using the DSN with
Excel, I'm returned empty rows.  No complaints, just no data.

Could it be that I need to tweak some configuration parameter, or that
the driver simply doesn't work correctly with W2K?  And what's this
about "bind" -- is that a step I'm missing?

Did you install the latest 5.2 fixpack from
www.software.ibm.com/data/db2/udb/support.html (fp 17)

Yup.  The latest one is 541 days old.

I haven't done a "bind", if that's something I need to do.  Is it?

If I do remember right the bind will be done automatically the moment
you connect to the database using a 'normal' db2 connection but I
don't know about an ODBC connection.
To be sure you can run the 'manual' bind from either the db2 command
line or the client configuration assistant (CCA). I don't know if it
solves your problem but it never hurts.

The second alternative is correct.

It may be correct, but it doesn't make any difference.  I just
installed it on a Win98 machine, and I get EXACTLY the same behavior.

It's the same problem and the solution is the same: upgrade to a DB2 version
that is supported for the platform.
