Job Title: Enterprise Database Administrator
Exempt: YES
Department: Information Services
Reports To: Operations Manager
Division: Administration
Location: Corporate Office

Summary: The Enterprise Database Administrator works as part of the IS
Operations team to support Trendwest Resorts, Inc. and Worldmark, The
Club's Unix-based DB2 database and NT-based SQL applications. Database
tuning, automation scripting, new server sizing and deployment, DB2
software package installation and management, and process and planning
documentation are the primary responsibilities of this position.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

- Configure, install and maintain DB2 UDB databases in an AIX/Linux
environment.
- Configure, install and maintain MS-SQL databases in an NT/Win2K
environment.
- Assist in logical database design in response to functional
requirements.
- Respond to service requests and trouble calls with a thoughtful
analysis of the problem, its impacts, and its solution. Maintain
ongoing records of all trouble calls.
- Work with solution architects and developers to optimize overall DB
application performance.
- Perform regular backups and database maintenance.
- Develop and maintain documentation for ongoing installation and
maintenance of databases.
- Assist the Operations Manager in technology planning.
- Work with the Data Center Manager in capacity planning for ongoing
installations.
- Communicate with Help Desk, Systems Administrators and end-users as
Tier-2 support for DB2/SQL-specific issues.
- Interface with contractors, consultants, and equipment suppliers in
a positive and professional manner.

Knowledge and/or Skills:

- Thrives in a team environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- DB2/MS-SQL database performance tuning skills and a solid knowledge
of distributed architectures.
- Query analysis and optimization, and strong experience using stored
procedures.
- Strong knowledge of and experience with SQL, ideally across multiple
platforms.
- Database backup and restore expertise.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP and client/server networking and
troubleshooting.
- Experience administering DB2 UDB in NT, AIX and Linux operating
environments.
- Familiarity with AS400 OS and DB2 on AS400.
- Experience with Access Connect or DB2 Connect to an AS400 a plus.
- Experience with Korn shell scripting a plus.
- Experience with or exposure to E.Piphany and WebSphere a plus.
- Experience with data modeling in a large enterprise.
- Excellent customer service attitude.
- Ability to lift and carry 40 pounds.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor degree from a four year college or university and 4+ years
experience as a DB2 and MS-SQL Database Admin.
OR equivalent combination of education and experience as a DB2 and
MS-SQL Database Admin.
