DB2/AS400 ADO and Default Schema

 DB2/AS400 ADO and Default Schema
I am unable to set the Default Scema for an ADO Connection. The
problem I am having:

When I do 'SELCT * FROM TBL1'. It says 'USER1.TBL1' does not exist. It
is because TBL1 exist in USER2 catalog (DB2 synnonym for schema). So I
want to set the default schema.

I am using IBM DB2 ODBC Driver and connection to a DB2/AS400 database.

Thanks,
rsKathait

I think you need to contact the DB2 Connect support folks, I believe they have a
special setting available for that.

This link may give some insight:
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/pubs/html/as400/v5r1/ic2924/info/db2/rb...

See the table under the heading Qualification of Unqualified Object
Names.  The Client Access ODBC driver has a data source setting for
default library (aka collection/schema), but I don't believe there is the
equivalent in the DB2 ODBC driver.  (SET CURRENT SCHEMA is on the to-do
list)

Thanks. I also believe that DB2 Connect by default does not supports
Schema/Collection settings. But I read lot of comments that people are
using

1. Db2 Connect.
2. IBM OLEDB Provider for DB2
3. DB2 Connect with IBM Communication server/ MS SNA server.

Can you please tell me how they are doing. I believe they are not
qualifying objects everytime.

Above this query, Does these thing works in a COM+ transactions
scenarion. I heard that option 3 above can support the COM+
transaction.

I need some references on this.

Thanks a lot,
rsKathait

I got some more article on this. Is the evaluation copy of IBM
Communication server available? Because I do not want to invest before
testing it.

Is there a reason that you are not using the iSeries (AS/400) Client Access ODBC
driver that's included with every system?  It does support the
default/collection settings that you are interested in and there's no charge for
it.

Yes, CAX supports the default collection setting. Right now I am using
it. But I want to achieve the COM+ transactions. Another reason is
that ADO/OLEDB is faster then ADO/ODBC.

However as long as I can get the COM+ transaction using iSeries CAX, I
am happy with it. Even I am happy with the ODBC DSN also if it helps.
If somebody knows some good refernece on this (DB2/AS400 & COM+
transaction), please share here.

Thanks & regards,
