Moving data from UDB to Oracle 8.0

Moving data from UDB to Oracle 8.0
My company wants me to develop some scripts that will pull the data
out of the UDB tables into delimited text files so that it can be
later loaded into Oracle 8.0 using Oracle's sqlldr. I will also need
to create the format files that Oracle uses to load the data, which
means that I will have to write scripts that read UDB table layouts
(column names, types, lengths, etc.)

If you know of any such scripts or if you can point me to some good
resources, please, let me know.

Thank you.
Sergey

Moving data from UDB to Oracle 8.0

Hi,

There is a migration tool Chyfo (http://www.ispirer.com/products) that
performs all these task. It exports IDB DB2 database into flat files,
creates Oracle native DDL statements, creates scripts and control files for
Oracle SQL Loader.
It also can be used for migrating Oracle to IBM DB2.

Best regards, Dmitry

Oracle provides some scripts etc that automate as much of this as is
possible, as part of the migration toolkits. See
http://otn.oracle.com/tech/migration/toolkits/content.html - you will need
an OTN account, but it's free.

FYI - you may want to considering coming on up to Oracle8i or Oracle9i -
Oracle8 is nearing end-of-life in terms of support.
