Is there any different between DB2 on AIX and OS/390?

There are differences if you run under mvs/os390/zos.
Not sure what the differences are when you run under USS/Linux-390 though.

What role do you want to learn?
DBA, system-programmer, programmer, user, ... ?
Do you intend to work directly on the host/tso-ispf/3270 or use a gui tool?

There was a .pdf file (something like) *db2 cross-platform*  but i don't
remember where it was.
You can probably find it on the www using "db2 cross-platform .pdf"

DB2 on AIX is very close to DB2 on Linux/390: almost identical.

DB2 on zOS is somewhat similar to DB2 on AIX: The DML (Select, Update, Insert,
Delete) is about 98% similar. The DDL (CREATE, ALTER, DROP) is about 95%
similar.

MVS and OS-390 have end of service dates so in the future, there will
only be Z-OS left. (doesn't mean all the mainframe sites will migrate this
year though.)

From a dba perspective, the underlying mainframe os version isn't that much
of a concern.
They are similar enough. (unless you also wear a db2 sysprog hat)

I suggest you also read a bit about the platform if you can. (file storage,
JCL,  tso command line, ispf, etc.)
It's good to know how things work even if you use a gui to hide some
platform details.
It's also not bad to be able to talk with other people working on the
mainframe(s).

In the mainframe world, one of the most important thing is the telephone.
Even if you only work with db2, you'll have to be in contact with storage
management people,
development people, production people, operators, groups of testers, app
managers, performance people,
etc, etc, etc...

V5 is a good version but it's quite old.

This may be little outdated but still is the only doc I can find which
talks about this.

I've worked as a DBA under both systems.  You'll need to learn JCL to
run DB2 jobs, most likely, on OS 390.  It's been my experience that
DBA's interact less with the operating system when working with OS
390.  It's very much a beast in and of itself.  DB2 on OS 390 gave me
far LESS trouble crashing when I worked with it.  There are also some
differences in the SQL used in DDL and DML.
