 Cannot configure db's in CCA
Hi,

I installed db2 connect v. 6.1.
When I try to configure the connections in Client Configuration
Assistant, I get an sql error:

SQL1001N  "<computer_name>" is not a valid database name.
SQLSTATE=2E000

How do I make it work so I can define the right databases?

Thanks
Hilit

I am having the same problem. In my case the full message is

"ER-IBN-A" is not a valid database name.  SQLSTATE=2E000

The full computer name is "ER-IBN-AS1", so first of all its chopping it
to eight characters. Secondly, its the computer name but the message
says database name.

I also get this same error when I try and save changes in "Configure
Instance".

For the record no database, instance, table space or schema is named
anything like "ER-IBN-A".

Any help would be appreciated, its sort of annoying to not being able
to configure my DB ;).

thanks,

dave

 Cannot configure db's in CCA
Hi,
I just installed it and I want to configure the server. I cannot do it
because the db2connect thinks my own computer is a database (it's not!).
Since I cannot use CCA, I cannot change it.
The database I want to connect to is another computer.
Maybe I did not install right.
What should I install in order to get connectivity?

Hilit

My guess is that CCA or DB2 is {*filter*} on the dashes in your
tcpip hostname. If you can, remove them and see if it works. If it does,
then you should open a PMR with DB2 Service or leave your
hostname as is without dashes.

 Cannot configure db's in CCA
That is my guess as well, however renaming the machine isn't really an
option. Its also a Citrix server that is being used by others and its
naming is standardized (not by me - I never would take a chance with
special characters).

Anyone else have any thoughts before I have to send in error reports?

thanks,

d

What is your machine name? Does it have dashes or special characters?
We seem to haveing the same problem, I am wondering if we have the same
cause.
