 question on User Exits

We have recently intalled DB2 UDB 5.2 on AIX. I turned on the log
retain, user exits parameter and compiled the sample db2uext2 file which
came with it. Now I notice two things :

1. DB2 is archiving/copying the logs from the active directory to the
new archive directory keeping the copying the active directory. My
question on this is : Is this normal ? Do I have to manually clean the
inactive logs which has already been archived ?  Will DB2 recycle the
LOG file (use like its circular logging) ?

2. The UserExits sometimes copies even the active logs from the log
directory to the archive directory. Is this normal ?

Does anybody has a good User Exit routine written in C which I can
compile in AIX ?  IS there any books or web site which explains the
User Exit procedure ?

Any input on the above is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Raju

 question on User Exits

Hi,
You will have to manually remove the inactive active logs from the
active log directory or you could include that as a part of the user-
exit also.

This is normal.  DB2 manages the log files in the active directory.
Old files will be reused or deleted by DB2.

Yes.  DB2 calls userexit program as soon as the log file is full.
Again, DB2 manages the file in the active directory.
