 Problem with installing db2 runtime client on linux redhat and catalog database

Hi, there,

I am using DB2 UDB workgroup 7.1 on Linux redhat 7.3.

 I intend to install DB2 runtime client on my web server (Linux redhat 7.3)
so I can catalog database in DB2 server and then my CGI/perl
application(stored in web server) can access to the database in the server
using DBI, DBD:DB2 driver.

I did not find instruction for installing DB2 runtime client in linux in IBM
online document. Anyway, I installed DB2 runtime client in web server, but
not fully finctioned:

I can not get CCA;
I try to catalog database in DB2 server by

db2 catalog tcpid node my_node db2linux remote IP_address server 6790
db2 terminate
db2 catalog database ixblast as ixblast at node db2linux
db2 terminate

Then I try to connect to database by
db2 connect to ixblast user username using password

It failed, the error message is :
SQL30081N  A communication error has been detected.  Communication protocol
being used: "TCP/IP".  Communication API being used: "SOCKETS".  Location
where the error was detected: "".  Communication function detecting the
error:
"recv".  Protocol specific error code(s): "104", "*", "0".  SQLSTATE=08001

Could anyone give me some advice to solve this problem. Thanks in advance.

I'm not exactly certain, but I think that the port you are listening on
on the server machine is a bit odd.  I've never heard of 6790 as a
listening port.  What OS is the server that you are trying to connect to?
The most common listening port on servers is 50000.  You can change that
of course, and you may well have done that.  But if it's on a *nix
machine (including Linux) it will be in the /etc/services file as the
TCP/IP listener port.  Try looking again to see if you have the right
port number on that TCP/IP address.

Hope that helps

You might want to setup svcename if you haven't!

"db2 update dbm cfg using svcename xusername"
