Help with DB2 EE V7.1 install on RedHat V7.1

I'm attempting to install DB2 EE V7.1 on RedHat V7.1.  I can start the
db2setup utility and choose what I'd like installed.  It seems to
install OK, but it doesn't seem to start. And it finishes with errors.
I am logging in as root.

I'm a linux newbie, and I'm stumped.  Unforetunately, there isn't a
whole lot of detailed install info out there.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Andy

Here's a copy of part of the install log:

The only time I've seen this is when someone has a high-security kernel
installed.  These sometimes second-guess what the install developer
wanted, and try to do things in a more-secure manner.  Check the
permissions of /usr/IBMdb2/V7.1/instance/db2idbm - it should be
"-r-xr-xr-x".

This is another prime example.  Check /usr/IBMdb2/V7.1/bin - everything
except db2refs.ndx and readme.pct should have rx for all (ipclean is a
link, so it should have lrwxrwxrwx).

I suspect your kernel - either you got a new one somewhere, or you
recompiled it with special options.

You don't need to install both UDB EE and Connect EE.  UDB EE has all
the functionality of CEE, plus some.  Only install whichever one you
have a license for.

Help with DB2 EE V7.1 install on RedHat V7.1
Darin,

Thanks for your advice.

I looked at the directories/files; they're all -r-xr-xr-x.  No dice.
Any additional suggestions?

I'm downloading the DB2 trial version.  Is is possible that I'm
un-tarring it incorrectly?

Thanks again,

Andy

I was referring to the *file* db2idbm inside the instance directory,
not just the directories (although that can be important, too).

Did you untar it as root?  Again, if you have high security, this may
not be ideal.
