Linux 2.4.14 + DB2 = SQL1224N

 Linux 2.4.14 + DB2 = SQL1224N

Hi,

I've been banging my head against this problem for the past few days,
but I'm trying to get a Websphere 4 app running against DB2 7.1 on the
same Redhat Linux box (with a 2.4.14 kernel underneath this).

From what I have seen, a ton of other people are experiencing the same
problem as me, namely, that upon light usage of the DB2 database, one
receives the following error:

[IBM][CLI Driver][DB2/LINUX] SQL1224N  A database agent could not be
started to service a request, or was terminated as a result of a
database system shutdown or a force command.  SQLSTATE=55032

The solution that most people have recommended is to configure the DB2
database I want to access using a loopback, and I have done that.  The
problem persists, though.

Has this technique worked for anybody????  If so, if you can kindly
provide details, maybe we can write the solution up once and for all
so all the other people in the world don't have to deal with this....

phil.

There's some issues running DB2 with 2.4 kernel. You need to increase some ipc
paramters:

See http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/DB2-HOWTO/kernel24.html (DB2 HowTo on Linux).

I had a similar problem until I applied the fix

sysctl -w kernel.msgmni=128
