 Programmatically generate tons of SQL?
Hey y'all,

I need to create a program that will generate and execute a ton of SQL
using C or shell script.

I need do to it using STATIC SQL and dynamic SQL.

I'd prefer to do it against the SAMPLE database.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

 Programmatically generate tons of SQL?

If you want to buy a tool to do it, contact me off-line for information on
our product (Cogent/SQL) that does just that.

(We also have customers using it to manage parts of the BMC Sybase database
used in BMC's Control/M - in particular, the authorization parts and cleanup
of the activity log tables. You can have the reference.)

What do you actually want to know?  How to generate SQL statements?  How to
write your program?  If there is already such a tool that you could use?

I guess what I really need is a sample SQL script that, when executed,
executes a bunch of SQL statements.  Preferably a script that does
non-destructive lookups (selects / describes / counts) and such to
objects that are commonly found in the SAMPLE database (or all DB2
databases).
